Thoughts

I just wanted to thank everyone who attended Dads funeral yesterday, especially those of you who travelled such long distances to pay your respects. We really appreciated it. I would also like to thank everyone who has donated to the two charities who are going to benefit from Dads memorial. With love and thanks Anne

Dear Uncle Bob you were a very special Uncle to me and I loved and admired you so much. You had such a positive outlook on life, always kept up to date with current affairs, sport and technology. You took to using a computer, smart phone and on line banking as if they had always been around. Your youthful spirit made you popular with people of all ages. How many 89 year olds would get on a transatlantic flight and spend their birthday on a mountain in Canada wearing a Stetson. You and Auntie Elma looked after me when I was a baby, entertained me at Tadley in school holidays and were like second parents to me and my family. You always loved to hear about what my boys were doing and your great and great great niece and nephews. We were very privileged to have someone like you in our lives and we will miss you very much. You told me lots of times how grateful and lucky you were to have the love and care and time from Anne and Neil and the wonderful relationship you had with Craig Charlotte Meg and your beautiful great granddaughter Sloane. Good bye and God bless to a wonderful man xx

I remember such wonderful times spent in Swains close; chats with your dad over a glass of your mum’s homemade lemonade, playing swing ball with him in the immaculate garden he tendered so carefully, and sitting across the table from him over family meals. Your parents always made me so welcome, my second family. I recall your dad driving us to Dunbar where we enjoyed the caravan holiday and exploring on the beach. In later years I remember him sat patiently waiting to pick us up from youth club or school discos, nothing was ever too much trouble, as long as we were safe. More recently we enjoyed bringing in the New Year with him over the odd dram or two of his favourite whisky. There were a few sore heads the next morning but your dads was not one of them. More recent thoughts are about the times we were alone for stolen conversations. He shared how he was so very thankful to you both for the love, care and time you spent with him, saying he was very blessed.
